Stump Grinding

How necessary is Stump Removal?
Trees and shrubs that lose their leaves in the fall, broad-leaf trees such as big leaf maples, the willow, and the alder are most likely to sprout again from their stumps. Trees that have thin leaves or needles, produce cones, and many evergreens generally, do not sprout after cutting.

Tree stumps are rather unattractive and take up space: they can pose various hazards, for example, tripping and damage to lawnmowers. Depending on the requirements for your area we advise grinding stumps down to a depth of 6” to 12”. The depth will vary for various situations such as landscaping plans, constructions needs, etc.

Stump grinding is a far less abrasive method of stump removal than traditional approaches, it is by far, much more cost effective and eliminates damage to your landscaping. We can immediately enhance the area by simply adding new topsoil and planting grass or shrubs. However, we discourage replanting a tree with a large root system in the close proximity of the newly removed stump. This will ensure the proper root growth of your new tree. An added bonus is the stump grinding process creates mulch which we encourage you to use around your gardens, flowerbeds and at the base of trees.
